Accessibility statement

We want anyone to be able to read the menu, place an order and find the room, whatever they are using to do it.

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 at level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium. Those guidelines are what we measure against when we build something new and when we review something old.

What that means in practice

Rather than layering an accessibility widget over the site, the site itself is built to work with the tools people already use. Specifically:

  • Every page is server-rendered HTML. The menu, the prices and the store details are in the document, so a screen reader or a text browser reads a complete page rather than waiting on scripts.
  • Everything interactive is a real button, link, input or <details> element, so keyboard navigation, focus order and the Escape key behave the way the browser intends.
  • Text meets AA contrast in both the light and the dark theme. The theme follows your system by default and can be switched from the header; the choice is remembered.
  • Content is structured with landmarks and headings in order, so skipping between sections works.
  • Photographs carry alternative text, and images that are purely decorative are marked so assistive technology skips them.
  • Nothing autoplays sound, and nothing flashes.
  • Layouts reflow to narrow screens and to 200% zoom without a horizontal scrollbar.

Where we know we fall short

The 360 virtual tours are Matterport embeds. A three-dimensional scan of a room is inherently visual and we do not control that player, so it is not fully keyboard or screen reader accessible. Everything the tour shows - the address, the hours, the amenities, the layout of the counters - is written out on the contact page and on each store page. If you would like a description of a room before visiting, call us and we will walk you through it.

In our stores

Both rooms are step-free from the parking lot and have accessible counter space. If you need assistance when you arrive, call ahead on 310-616-5140 for Sawtelle or 310-207-1900 for West LA and a member of staff will meet you outside.

Tell us when we get it wrong

If something on this site is hard to use, does not read correctly, or stops you finishing an order, we want to hear about it rather than guess. Email info@erbamarkets.com with what you were trying to do and what you were using, or send it through the contact form. We answer within a business day and we will tell you what we are doing about it.

If a page is blocking you right now, call the room and we will take the order over the phone.
